Glasshouse Books are based in east London and operate along the same lines as a social enterprise. Our mission is to get more people reading, in some ways by getting more people writing. We make versions of our books available for free to read on our website: www.glasshousebooks.co.uk. We also give training opportunities to unemployed graduates and endeavour to get more people published.
Our project for May is called Free Speech. In it we've set an eclectic list of topics, people are free to write their thoughts online, We will not be editing their words, but will be editing via selection. I've attached the brief so you can take a look. Entry is simply through a Google form, which is here: http://glasshousebooks.co.uk/forms.php?book=4.
There are also sections for:
1. Photography
2. Design (primarily info graphics)
3. Cartoons
We'll be printing 10,000 copies of the newspaper and distributing nationally in the UK - it is a one off - the work will not appear online or be republished in a book. We'll be distributing to libraries, which is a key part of our ethos. We can't afford to pay contributors but we can credit and promote.
Do get in touch if you'd like to find out more and contribute.
